Application of PPG Lining

The main advantage of PPG lining is it is resistant to most of Inorganic chemicals so it can be used as a protective lining in many application some of the common applications are as under

w Drains
Drains which are prone to acid/ alkali atmosphere is likely to be damaged due to chemical atmosphere resulting in overall structural damage.

w Neutralizing / Effluent Pits
Neutralizing pits are the tanks where acid/ alkaline water is neutralized before disposal

Details of Drainage system

  • Problem in DM Plant Drainages
    Conventionally DM Plant drainages are constructed with Acid proof brick lining. Acid proof bricks/tiles are compatible to acids & alkalis, but due to continuos flow & other reasons mastic filled between tiles gets eroded & it causes seepage which in turn damages the structure.

    For anti corrosive linings prime requirement is dry surface & DM plant being a prime utility it cannot be stopped hence providing dry surface is rarely possible.

  • Concept of Designing the Pre Fabricated DM Plant Drainage
    In DM Plant there are three things to be considered.
    1. Operator would like to see the quality of water for judging the regeneration.
    2. Drains to take the back wash to ETP/ Neutralizing pit.
    3. It should not effect the regular continues operations.

    Based on above we have designed a system which is as per the following sketch

  
 
  • Advantages
 
  • In conventional lining jointing material is the main cause of seepage, where in PPG jointing is done by fusion welding & followed by spark testing this eliminates the remotest chance of failures.

  • PPG has excellent chemical resistance as well as absolute imperviousness to almost all type of acid’s/ alkalis.

  • With its strong cohesive properties it makes bonding with parent surface near to permanent minimizing the routine failures of conventional methods.

  • Overall cost of this system is much cheaper than any lining

  • After initial preparation time required at is site very less.
